Developmental genes and networks

The projects developed in this axis aim at analyzing genes and networks involved in distinct developmental contexts: the mouse and fly model are used to analyze the gene regulatory networks involved in thymocyte differenciation and cardiac development.

Both projects are based on functional genomics approaches and take advantage of the TGML platform and of a tight collaboration with TAGC’s bioinformaticians, thus leaning on methods similar to those used in Axis 1: complex biological processes are analysed through a comprehensive identification of the involved biological components and their interactions. Because these projects are developed on highly amenable biological models (drosophila and mouse), they allow a straightforward acquisition of high throughput data in different tissues and in controlled genetic contexts, thus permitting a holistic description of the analysed biological systems. The generated quantitative and qualitative information can then be used as substrates for bioinformatics analyses and modelling (see Axis 3) which can, in turn, be validated experimentally. In this context, this axis represents a necessary complement to the other lab projects.
